Are all fire door inspectors the same?
Share:

NFPA 80 and NFPA 101 require fire-rated door assemblies to be inspected annually by qualified individuals who are knowledgeable of the types of door assemblies being inspected. This is a major responsibility when there are a variety of inspectors in the field today with different training and qualifications. How do you decide who to trust when it comes to ensuring your fire doors are code compliant?

Intertek Qualified Personnel (IQP) Fire Door Inspectors are part of an elite group of inspectors who are dedicated to staying ahead of the curve and have been educated on the most recent standards for fire doors. The Intertek Qualified Personnel Program is designed to bring peace of mind to facility managers as well as AHJs.

What is the Intertek Qualified Personnel (IQP) Program for Fire Door Inspectors?
The IQP Training Program is a rigorous course designed by Intertek and The Door and Hardware Institute. IQP Fire Door Inspectors are educated and tested on NFPA and other code requirements to ensure the highest standards are followed when performing a fire door assembly inspection.

What makes an IQP Fire Door Inspector different from an FDAI Credential?
Becoming an IQP Fire Door Inspector, takes your FDAI credential to the next level. This additional step is not an industry requirement, but a way for door inspectors to separate themselves from the competition by completing an additional program with even more stringent checks and balances. IQP Fire Door Inspectors are required to complete on-going education and re-qualification every 3 years to stay up to date with code requirements and changes. In addition, IQP Fire Door Inspectors are audited each year for quality and assurance, giving facility managers and AHJs confidence in the inspections performed by IQP Fire Door Inspectors.

Why should you use an IQP Fire Door Inspector for your door inspections?
Intertek’s IQP Program ensures doors are complaint and door inspections will pass AHJ review. IQP Fire Door Inspectors are recognized and accepted by AHJ’s providing you the confidence that the installer has been properly trained and is current with industry standards and fire door requirements.
